New Delhi: In Delhi, the capital of Desh, the state is in full swing over Chhath Puja. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA has also written to Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal following a recent protest by opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers demanding permission for Chhath Puja.

Sanjeev Jha, AAP MLA from Burari and in charge of Purvanchal wing, has written to LG Anil Baijal seeking permission for Chhath Puja at Yamuna Ghat. An order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday directed to hold Chhath Puja only at identified places that do not include ghats of river Yamuna. AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha in his letter has requested LG Saheb to allow chhath puja on the banks of Yumna in Delhi as people who believe in Chhath Puja also clean ghats and rivers before fasting.

He wrote that Chhath Puja never pollutes Yumna. Chhath Puja is a festival of faith and faith of the Poorvanchalites. He further wrote that the order of the DDMA issued on October 29 states that Chhath Puja cannot be performed on the banks of the Yamuna. But chhath puja has been performed on the banks of Yamuna every year.
