The long-awaited news for Harry Potter fans has arrived: a TV reboot will soon be available. A new Harry Potter television series will be produced, Max announced on April 12; he added that it will be a "faithful adaptation" of the books. Additionally, one of the books will be covered in each season of the show.

Fans' hopes that the Harry Potter actor would return in the recently announced series reboot on HBO Max have been dashed by Daniel Radcliffe. Daniel recently claimed that the new show does not "need" him. As part of the company's plans for its Max streaming service, the new boy wizard series was unveiled in April. More than 600 million copies of the seven Harry Potter books have been sold worldwide. From 2001 to 2011, blockbuster films starring Daniel based on these books brought in $7.7 billion worldwide.

"We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way," said Casey Bloys, CEO and chairman of HBO & Max content "Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years."

When discussing the programme with Comicbook.com, Daniel said "My understanding is that they're trying to very much start fresh and I'm sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere. So I'm definitely not seeking it out in any way. But I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world and I'm very excited to have that torch passed. But I don't think it needs me to physically pass it."

Each season of the upcoming series will focus on one of Rowling's books and will have a new cast. The series is supposed to run for ten years. The show's executive producer will be Rowling. In a statement, Rowling said, "I'm excited to be a part of this new adaptation, which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long-form television series." The news of the new franchise was greeted by loud groans from original series viewers. Many questioned why it was still necessary to gild the lily.
