New Delhi: Indian Navy Chief, Admiral R Hari Kumar, has declared active collaboration with the navies of partner countries to counter the recent resurgence of piracy attacks in the Indian Ocean Region. He stressed that the Navy is resolute in its commitment to not tolerate any instances of piracy and attributed the recent increase in such incidents to disturbances caused by drone attacks in the Red Sea. Admiral Kumar affirmed that the Indian Navy has taken robust actions in response to this surge, deploying an ample number of assets to effectively prevent and address piracy.
During a media interaction on the sidelines of the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit (GAISA) 4.0 launch event, Admiral Kumar underlined the Navy's determination to safeguard national interests. He articulated that the primary responsibilities of navies include protecting, preserving, promoting, and pursuing the national interest of India. He reiterated the Navy's strong message that they are actively present to prevent any attacks in the region.
Responding to a query regarding collaboration with other navies to ensure safe sea passages, Admiral Kumar stated that the Indian Navy is actively working with partners in the region. He acknowledged the shared goal of ensuring that the Indo-Pacific remains free, open, inclusive, and adheres to rule-based principles. The collaboration extends to working with smaller countries in the region to collectively maintain safety and security in sea passages.
The announcement was made during the launch event of the GAISA 4.0, organized by the All India Council for Robotics & Automation (AICRA). Admiral R Hari Kumar, in his keynote address, highlighted the significant role of AI in shaping India's trajectory. Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO, also participated in the event, elaborating on DRDO's proactive measures to integrate AI seamlessly into various operations, technologies, and systems. Both emphasized the pivotal role of AI in defense and national security, citing advantages such as improved accuracy, increased efficiency, and overall enhanced effectiveness.
