Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of the drone/Air attacks at the Jammu and Kashmir airport, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has warned Tamil Nadu and Kerala to be extra vigilant as militant groups could infiltrate states using drones, according to reports.

The CIA has received indications that some militant groups are preparing for drone strikes in the border areas. The intelligence community does not rule out the likelihood of attacks by organizations, including the Taliban.

While the security agencies were able to foil the drone attacks in the Jammu area, the cost of intercepting these drones is high and several states are ill-equipped with this technology. Already defense establishment has opened discussions with the Israeli defense establishments for the supply of high-end drone interceptors as Israel is the global leader in this technology.

Intense levels of flood danger were announced in at least two places. Central agencies are closely monitoring the movement of people from Kerala to Syria and Afghanistan to work with militant groups and the presence of Tamil Nadu-based organizations such as Al-Umma. The agencies also monitor the activities of organizations in Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, Kanyakumari and other southern districts of Tamil Nadu. According to the report, the warning was issued to Kerala and Tamil Nadu in this context.
