Purnea, In an incident an ambulance collided head-on with a truck on NH 31 in Bihar's Purnea district in which 7 persons, including a newborn, were killed and one other was injured.

"The incident occurred when an ambulance in which the victims were travelling in collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction near Mewalal chowk on NH 31 of the district", said, Purnea Deputy SP R K Sah.

Ambulance owner identified as Navin Kumar and its driver Vishal Kumar- yield to their injuries while being taken to the hospital.

Sah said that ambulance was carrying a pregnant lady who was returning to Forbesganj after medical check up at Bhagalpur when the incident occurred.

The new born child of the woman, having been born on board the vehicle, was among the seven deceased.

The truck has been siezed by police but driver escaped.
