Commandos Force To Be Deployed In Kaziranga National Park to Stop Poaching

Here yesterday GP Singh whos is an Assam Police Special Director General of Police (DGP) of Law and Order sais that the Commando Force will be deployed in Kaziranga National Park to curb rhino poaching.

After the recovery of a rhino carcass, GP Singh, Chairman of the Assam Rhino Protection Task Force and Chief Wildlife Warden, paid a visit to the park.

According to reports, he visited the location on Sunday after reviewing the ongoing anti-poaching activities on Saturday. Meanwhile, Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve informed the public about the situation on Twitter, writing, "Special DGP cum Chairman Assam Rhino Protection Task Force & CWLW reviewed current anti-poaching operation yesterday and visited latest rhino poaching site today." The anti-poaching campaign will be strengthened with the deployment of a commando force."

In response to the situation, GP Singh stated that a person has been identified and is being interrogated in connection with the poaching. The state of Assam saw another episode of suspected rhino poaching just a day after Kevin Pietersen praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government for ending rhino poaching in the state.

Sources suggests, the carcass of a full-grown Rhino was discovered in Hikekahonda, Assam, on Wednesday morning at around 8:45 a.m. It is worthy of mention that rhino poaching had reached its peak in 2013 and 2014, with 27 rhinos being killed each year.The year-wise data of rhino poaching since 2000 is as follows: four in 2000; eight in 2001; four in 2002; three in 2003; four in 2004; seven in 2005; five in 2006; 16 in 2007; six in 2008; six in 2009; five in 2010; three in 2011; 11 in 2012; 27 in 2013; 27 in 2014; 17 in 2015; 18 in 2016; six in 2017; seven in 2018; three in 2019; two in 2020 and one in 2021.
