The changing shape of the gaseous body Pluto is an enigma to scientists. It is also a challenge to measure it at various places. Now, with the extremely rare observation of Pluto, Arya Bhatt Research and Observation Science Institute (ARIES) has got an important link to solve its shape. Aerys, who was part of the international team set up to observe the rare incident of another Pluto star covering, got this break this week. Arya Bhatt Research and Observation Science (Aerys) institute near Nainital with 3.6 meters telescope covered the star in the distant space of Pluto while travelling in front of another far-flung star in distant space. There was a significant observation of deficiency.

With this observation, it would be possible to make an accurate estimate of the size at the particular location of Pluto. This is considered an important achievement for astrophysicists including Aerys. Pluto has an excess of nitrogen in the atmosphere with a small amount of methane and is a gaseous body. Its shape varies when approaching the sun and moving away from it. Due to this, its size has not yet been accurately measured in different places. In this case, this study is important because of the decrease in starlight during this event will be successful in determining the size of Pluto at that particular location.

Ars scientist Shashi Bhushan Pandey said that for the study of Pluto, a group has been formed by combining various important agencies including Aerys on a global scale. This time the study was conducted for a period of 136 seconds at Devasthal and Halle. The study was carried out by an international team led by India, in which Prof. NM Ashok and Prof. Bruno was a collaboration of Sicily (Lucky Star Project, Observatory Paris). Dr Saurabh from IIRS and BC Bhatt of IIA led these observations at Devasthal and Halle Bengaluru. However, due to the thick cloud, the Halle could not get proper observation.
