Chandigarh: Police have revealed surprise in the murder of a pregnant woman on Rohtak-Panipat national highway in Gohana, Haryana. Police have arrested the soldier's husband on charges of murdering the woman. According to police, Army Jawaan Gulshan suspected his wife of having an illicit relationship with someone else.

Police say the accused husband had been planning for a month to kill his wife Jyoti. The accused had purchased the knife used in the murder from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. He then carried out the incident on drain number 8 near village Mahra on Rohtak-Panipat National Highway in Gohana. Meanwhile, 3 members of the family of accused soldier Gulshan have been booked for dowry. Baroda police station in-charge Badan Singh said her husband Gulshan has been arrested in connection with the murder of a pregnant woman. The accused is working as a clerk in the Gulshan army. He admitted in interrogation that he doubted his wife's character.

The accused told police that he suspected his wife of having an illicit relationship with someone else. For this, he plotted the murder a month ago. The accused also bought a knife from Moradabad to commit murder. Baroda police station in-charge Badan Singh says the postmortem found the deceased woman pregnant. The baby in her womb also died after her murder. Police have registered a dowry harassment case against the accused Gulshan and Gulshan's parents as well as his younger brother on the statement of the deceased Jyoti's father. However, the soldier's mother, father, and brother are still absconding. Police are currently investigating the case.
