Itanagar: Three members of the same family were buried alive in the debris due to landslides following heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh. The incident took place in Sulung Taping village under Kurangu Kume district near the China border. In fact, the state has been receiving heavy rainfall for the past few days. Deputy Commissioner Bengia Nigi said the dead included 50-year-old Saryu Tongdang, his wife Saryu Yajik, 48, and their eight-year-old son Saryu Takar. Two other people survived the accident. At the moment, efforts are being made to retrieve the bodies buried in the debris.

This region has been receiving continuous rain since April 17. Due to which landslides have also occurred in many places. Due to this, the power and water supply in the area have also been disrupted. Many roads have also been closed due to this so that there is no major accident. A relative of the deceased said the incident took place at night. All the people were present at home when three members of their house were buried alive under the debris due to the landslide.

Lower Koloriang Zilla Parishad member Bengia Tashi said more than 20 houses had been damaged due to landslides triggered by heavy rains. He urged the disaster management department to conduct a survey of the damage and appealed to the administration to provide relief and rehabilitation packages for poor families who no longer have homes to live in after the loss.
