Guwahati: Massive protests are taking place in Assam and other areas of North Eastern states against the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. On Friday, pro-leadership leaders of Assam's farmers' organization Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and several other organizations staged a massive protest against the bill in Guwahati.

More than a thousand members of the farmers' organization Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti staged a massive protest against the bill in Assam and marched till the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati. Led by Akhil Gogoi, advisor to Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, protesters shouted slogans against the Modi government at the Center and the proposed bill. The protesters also demanded the withdrawal of the bill.

Farmer leader Akhil Gogoi said, "Assam opposes the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, because this bill is unconstitutional and communal." Therefore, people of Assam and North East are opposing it. "He claimed that if this bill is passed, at least 1.90 crore Hindu Bangladeshi will enter Assam and the demographic pattern of the state will change. Akhil Gogoi said that, if this bill is passed, North East India will end. ”
