In India, there has been a dispute between the government and the opposition about the Citizen Amendment Bill and NRC for a long time. Meanwhile, on Monday, on behalf of the central government, Attorney General KK Venugopal said in the Supreme Court in the Assam NRC case that the children whose parents got citizenship in the final NRC will not be separated from them and sent to the detention center in Assam. The court, while recording Venugopal's statement in the order, has sought a response from the government on the plea alleging the exclusion of such children from NRC.

These orders were given by the bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde, BR Gavai and Suryakant during the hearing in the Assam NRC case. Earlier, the petitioner's lawyer Aparna Bhatt alleged that there are 60 children whose parents have been included in the final NRC, but their children have been excluded from it.

Regarding this matter, Bhatt feared that those children could be separated from parents and sent to the detention center in Assam. On this, Attorney General KK Venugopal, appearing for the Central Government, said that as long as the decision on this application is pending, no such child will be separated from the parents and sent to the detention center, whose parents got citizenship through NRC is. The court has asked the government to reply in the case in four weeks. The case will be heard again after four weeks.
