Guwahati: In a coordinated effort, Assam police, along with the flying squad team, conducted a successful operation in Assam's Biswanath district, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). According to Biswanath district police sources, the team confiscated 14 cartons, totaling 124.475 liters, of illegally transported IMFL. Additionally, law enforcement officials seized a four-wheeler and a motorcycle believed to be associated with the illicit activity. Two individuals, a male and a female, were apprehended in connection with the case.

This recent operation follows a similar incident last September when the Excise Department of Assam seized 45 cartons of illegal IMFL from Sonitpur district. In another enforcement action, Assam Rifles intercepted a drug trafficking attempt in the Bagha area of Cachar District, seizing heroin valued at Rs 68 lakh and apprehending a suspect.

Acting on credible intelligence, Assam Rifles launched an operation in the Bagha area, leading to the seizure of 97 grams of heroin and the arrest of a drug peddler. The seized contraband and the detained individual were subsequently handed over to the Dholai Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
