PM Modi is making every effort to check the corona infection. But the state governments are also exerting their full power to prevent the virus. The Assam government has formulated a plan to introduce community-based surveillance of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) and influenza-like illness (ILI) across the state. This will prevent the possible spread of Covid-19. This information is given in a government document. A state level task force and a state level coordination committee have been set up to continue this program and monitor it on a daily basis.
The guidelines for the Assam Community Monitoring Scheme were issued on Monday night through the standard operating procedure and from Thursday the government will start implementing in all districts. Monitoring will start from 16 May. Five zonal screening camps will be set up for people coming from outside the state.
Regarding the matter, the document said, 'Assam has been successful in breaking the chain of Covid-19 epidemic in the state and in the first phase of containment. There is a need to further strengthen the monitoring mechanism in order to move the reaction mechanism firmly. It has been felt consistently that the monitoring mechanism should be strengthened to cover all SARI and ILI cases with the enhancement of investigation capacity.'
