NEW DELHI: The Election Commission has declared that by-elections for three assembly constituencies viz. Odisha, Kerala, and Uttarakhand will be held on May 31, with results to be announced on June 3. Brajrajnagar in Odisha, Thrikkakara in Kerala, and Champawat in Uttarakhand are the three Assembly constituencies.

The Model Code of Conduct will take effect immediately in the districts where the entire or a portion of the Assembly constituencies up for bye-election are located, according to the document.

According to the Election Commission notification, the date of publication of the gazette notification will be May 4, the deadline for nominations will be May 11, the date of scrutiny of nominations will be May 12, and the deadline for withdrawal of candidature will be May 16, with the exception of Brajrajnagar and Champawat, which will be May 17 due to a public holiday on May 16. The election process in all three constituencies will be finished by June 5, the statement said. The ECI stated that the published electoral roll will be utilised for these bye polls, and that the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and VVPATs will be used in all polling stations, and that the district administrations will be given an EVMS VVPAT machine.
