Vishakhapattnam: In Gavarapalem, Anakapalle district of Andhra Pradesh, a cable technician named Govind attempted to murder an elderly woman, Laxmi Narayanamma, in her home to steal her gold chain weighing 8 tulas. The shocking incident, which took place last week on January 26, was captured by CCTV cameras. The footage depicts the assailant, Govind, entering the woman's home and using a towel to strangle her while she was sitting on a sofa. The motive behind the brutal attack was to rob the elderly woman of her gold chain.

Despite the harrowing struggle, the woman survived the attempted murder, and Govind managed to flee the scene after snatching the gold chain. The accused is currently on the run, and cases have been registered against him under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) based on a complaint filed by the victim's family.

The authorities are actively searching for the perpetrator, and the victim, Laxmi Narayanamma, is reported to be safe. The incident underscores the need for enhanced security measures to protect vulnerable individuals from such heinous crimes.
