Lucknow: BSP has declared its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh, joining BJP and Congress in the electoral fray. Sanjay Solanki will represent BSP in the Indore constituency, while the late Ashok Bhalvi's son will stand for the Betul seat after his father's demise. Incumbent BJP MP Shankar Lalwani will contest from Indore, while Congress has nominated Akshay Kanti Bam.

The voting for the Betul Lok Sabha seat, initially scheduled for April 26, has been rescheduled to May 7 following Ashok Bhalvi's passing. Arjun Bhalvi, the middle son of the late candidate, has been nominated by BSP as his replacement and will file his nomination on April 15 or 16.

Arjun Bhalvi, who manages vehicle transportation, was proposed as a candidate by the BSP district president and in-charge after discussions with the state leadership. He expressed his commitment to carry forward his father's work in the party, highlighting Ashok Bhalvi's ten years of dedication to the Dalit movement and BSP activities.

In the Indore constituency, which has been a stronghold of the BJP for several elections, Shankar Lalwani will face competition from Akshay Bam of Congress and BSP's Sanjay Solanki. The Indore constituency, known as the largest in Madhya Pradesh, boasts a significant voter base, with sizable Jain and Sindhi communities.

Betul constituency, encompassing areas from Harda, Harsud Betul, Multai, Amla, Bhainsdehi, Ghoradongri, and Timarni, has a substantial voter count of over 18 lakh. BJP's Durgadas Uike emerged victorious in the 2019 elections, defeating Congress's Ramu Netam. The seat has historically witnessed a contest primarily between BJP and Congress, with no third-party candidate clinching victory.
