Philanthropist and social activist, Azad Singh has constantly been vocal about the transportation issues in Barmer. Azad, the man behind the Malani Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, said that the Central Government has announced to run the Malani Rail only 3 days a week in the coming days, which is absolutely a problematic decision.
A few months ago when the Malani Express was discontinued, people of all age groups, people of all religions across the community supported the public movement. This led to the Ministry of Railways change their decision.
As per the protesters, the policy of a single train going from the Barmer-Jaisalmer area to Delhi on different days is beyond comprehension. Barmer and Jaisalmer districts are very important today from strategic, tourism, and industrial point of view.

“Barmer district headquarters and the city of Balotra, along with the Air Force and military areas, are on this rail route. Oil exploration and production are being done in Barmer and a refinery is also being established here. People from all corners of the country are working here for which rail is the easiest means of transport.” said Azad.
He has requested the government authorities to increase the number of trains and air terminals for the public good.
