New Delhi: We all see a large number of beggars wandering along the roads, around temples and elsewhere, who are tempted for one rupee each. In such a situation, someone sometimes pays Rs. 2-5-10 and helps those helpless, poor, helpless. So far, efforts have also been made by the Government for the welfare of beggars and now, once for a big effort, a big effort is being made. In fact, now the Central Government has launched a new phase of the SMILE for The Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise Scheme for the welfare of beggars. Under the information received, measures will be taken by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for the rehabilitation and livelihood of beggars. Now, let us tell you about this scheme in detail.

In fact, the ministry of social justice and empowerment will completely rehabilitate the beggars. The Ministry will bear the entire cost of their living to education, health and skill training for the next 10 years. At present, as a pilot project, 10 major cities of the country including Delhi have been prepared to be made beggar-free under the scheme. Under the information received, a survey has been conducted to ascertain the exact number of beggars in the selected 9 cities. According to the survey, the number in Delhi, including women and children, is more than 20,000.

The 10 cities named in the pilot project, including Delhi or Mumbai, Patna, Indore, Chennai, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. These first included Kolkata's name instead of Ahmedabad, but cited the non-cooperation of the Mamata government in Bengal, which led the Centre to separate Kolkata from the pilot project.

200 crore in next 5 years- The Ministry says that the entire scheme will cost Rs 200 crore in the next 5 years. At the same time, 10 years time will be given for rehabilitation of beggars. In fact, the Ministry believes that unless their living habits change completely, they will not give up begging.
