Kolkata: West Bengal Assembly Speaker has rejected the resignation of Suvendu Adhikari. He has said that the resignation is not in the correct format. The Speaker has called Suvendu on December 21 and said that he will have to come and submit the resignation himself. It is noteworthy that Suvendu Adhikari, who was a minister in the Mamata government of West Bengal, resigned from all the posts of Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday.

Earlier on Wednesday, Suvendu Adhikari, who had a good hold in TMC, resigned from the post of MLA. It is believed that he may soon join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was angry with Mamata Banerjee, the state's CM and party supremo, for the past several days. Efforts were also made to persuade him several times, but he had decided to leave TMC. Adhikari had a very high stature in TMC. The official family dominates 65 assembly seats in West Bengal. These seats are spread in six districts of the state.

After the resignation of Suvendu Adhikari, TMC MLA Jitendra Tiwari also resigned from all party posts. Jitendra Tiwari is currently the MLA from Pandeshwar assembly constituency. This resignation is pointing to the growing revolt within Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress Party.
