Amidst uproar over allegations of harassment of women in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, a BJP leader has been arrested. The BJP leader was allegedly running a human trafficking racket in Howrah. There's a wave of protest from BJP leaders and workers in Sandeshkhali regarding the allegations against them. They are continuously protesting, demanding the arrest of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh and his associates, who are implicated in the allegations.

Now, claims are being made by the Trinamool Congress that the Bengal police have busted a human trafficking racket. This racket was allegedly being operated by BJP leader Subhasish Ghosh at a hotel in Howrah. TMC, led by Mamata Banerjee, accused BJP of 'protecting brokers' and not women.

BJP leader Subhasish Ghosh was apprehended during a time when BJP has been consistently pressurizing the Mamata Banerjee government over Sandeshkhali. BJP's female workers had organized a march towards Sandeshkhali today but they were prevented from entering the area. Party MPs Locket Chatterjee and MLA Agnimitra Paul were intending to visit Sandeshkhali along with the workers.

BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul stated, "The state government wants to hide the truth, and therefore, we were stopped from going to Sandeshkhali." A team from the National Human Rights Commission is also currently in Sandeshkhali, where they will engage in discussions with the affected women and prepare a ground-level report on the allegations.
