After considerable discussion about whether Britney Spears will acquire a prenup after marrying boyfriend Sam Asghari, the singer's lawyer officially clarified the issue. Spears' attorney Matthew Rosengart mentioned the singer's prenup status in his additional filing on the singer's conservatorship lawsuit, which seeks the immediate removal of her father Jamie Spears.

According to media sources, the court records indicate that Spears' engagement is another another important reason why her father Jamie Spears should be removed from his conservatorship immediately. According to the filings, Britney is willing to acquire a prenuptial agreement but does not want her father to be involved since his presence would "hinder the capacity to negotiate and finalize a contract that everyone can agree is in Ms. Spears's best interests."

The court document also claims that because Britney and her father's relationship is "broken" and that drafting a prenuptial agreement would need communication with the Conservator of her Estate, the singer's counsel has sought for her father's immediate removal on these and other grounds.

On September 12, Britney and Sam announced their engagement on Instagram, sharing images and videos of the singer wearing her diamond ring. Given that this would be Britney's third marriage, following Jason Alexander and Kevin Federline, a number of fans have voiced their concerns over the singer's need for a prenuptial agreement. According to sources, Britney did have a  prenuptial agreement with Federline, whom she divorced in 2007. Kevin and Britney also share two sons, Jayden and Sean Preston.
