Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former CM Mayawati has hit out at the government over the violence in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujrat on the occasion of Ram Navami. Mayawati in a series of tweets questioned the government's action. In her tweet, Mayawati wrote, "The manner in which there have been violent incidents of disturbing peace and harmony first in Rajasthan and then in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat etc., and after which prima facie revenge action has been taken by the government is not the right step. Will similar examples lead to a 'New India'?''

Questioning the law and order situation in UP, Mayawati wrote in a tweet, "In UP also, the way the government and police are working in the name of law and order and control of crime, etc., ignoring the judiciary is not only malicious but also a mockery of the rule of law. For the rule of law, punishment should not be arbitrary but under the legal process itself.''

Let us tell you that, on the occasion of Ram Navami, there were attacks on the processions taken out by Hindus in many states. The attacks took place in Muslim-dominated areas, where Hindu devotees were stoned from rooftops and in some places they were also attacked with glass bottles, in which many people were injured.
