Bus going to Sabarimala encounters with accident, over 20 pilgrims injured

Kochi: A bus carrying devotees from Andhra Pradesh to Sabarimala in Kerala met with an accident in Kerala on Saturday. More than 20 people have been injured in the accident. The accident took place at Laha in the Pathanamthitta district. Pathanamthitta district administration officials said there were 44 pilgrims on the bus.

20 people injured in the accident have been taken to nearby hospitals. Three people, including an 8-year-old boy with serious injuries, have been shifted to Kottayam Medical College, while 18 others have been admitted to a local hospital. Some have been admitted to the community health center in Perinadu. As soon as the information was received, police, fire brigade personnel, officials of the Motor Vehicle Department, and locals jointly carried out the rescue operation.  

Kerala Health Minister Veena George, who rushed to the spot after receiving information, made arrangements for rescue operations and treatment of the pilgrims. She later said that necessary treatment has been ensured for all those injured. Senior officials, including the district magistrate and district police chief, also reached the spot and inquired about the accident.
