On Tuesday, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has given relief to a trainee IPS officer. CAT has issued orders related to the cancellation of the suspension of trainee IPS officer KV Maheshwar Reddy. The Home Ministry had suspended his offer of appointment after he was accused of allegedly exploiting his wife, forcibly divorcing and marrying another.

According to the media report, CAT Chairman Justice L. Narasimha Reddy and Administrative Member BV Sudhakar issued the order challenging the orders of the Union Home Ministry. In the order of CAT, officers have been instructed to allow Maheshwar Reddy to take training in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy.

Apart from this, he also said that the suspension is not valid as he was only a probationer. It has been further stated that the matter is domestic and has no relation to the service. On October 27, Jawaharnagar Police had registered a case against the trainee IPS on the basis of a complaint by his wife Bhavna Birudula. Mamla has been registered against them under sections 498A, 323, 506 of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

On the other hand, the MHA order wrote, 'The competent authority has considered the issue and given the fact that the investigation/trial is pending against you in the above case, it has been decided that you will be considered for December 2, 2019. The appointment proposal is postponed till further orders. However, after the completion of this hearing, the Ministry will review your appointment and after that, you can participate in the training program of SVP National Police Academy, Hyderabad without loss of seniority.
