Thane:  A distressing incident, captured on CCTV cameras, has surfaced revealing the assault of an 11-year-old boy who greeted a youth with 'Jai Shri Ram'. The minor boy, mistakenly assuming the youth to be the security guard of his residential building, extended the greeting. However, this simple gesture led to a violent altercation as the youth, accompanied by others, chased and assaulted the boy for his greeting, allegedly forcing him to chant 'Allahu Akbar'.

Sanjay Singh, the victim's father, lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against five unidentified youths involved in the incident. The appalling episode unfolded in Mumbai's Mira Road area around 9:30 PM on Monday (25th March), recorded by CCTV cameras within the building premises.

In the footage, the minor boy is seen entering the building while greeting an individual with 'Jai Shree Ram'. Subsequently, he is pursued by a group of youths, though he continues towards his home. Another video shows five young men entering the building premises.

According to Singh's complaint, his son, returning home after purchasing milk, mistook someone for the building's security guard and greeted him with 'Jai Shree Ram'. Realizing his mistake, the boy proceeded home, but the unknown youth attempted to halt him. Shortly after, the assailants, identified as five unidentified youths, pursued and physically attacked the minor, coercing him to chant 'Allah Hu Akbar'.

A concerned resident intervened to stop the assault, prompting the assailants to flee. The resident then informed the boy's father, leading them to report the incident to the Mira Road police station. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Maharashtra Police Act, although no arrests have been made thus far. The police are actively investigating the matter.
