The Consumer Ministry of the Center has recently issued an important order, which will take strict action against those who manufacture and sell substandard helmets. The ministry has instructed all 736 district collectors and magistrates to monitor the quality of such helmets and close down factories manufacturing helmets without ISI marks.

Main points of the Centre's order

In the order sent by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry, Bharat Kheda, it is said that there is already a law in the country against making and selling substandard helmets, but despite this such business is going on. Now the District Collector and Magistrate have been given the responsibility to personally investigate and seal such factories where substandard helmets are being made. This action is a part of the road safety campaign and under this, substandard helmets will be strictly banned.

Disadvantages of poor quality helmets

Poor-quality helmets cannot protect you during accidents on the road. These helmets neither have proper safety standards nor can they protect your head from accidents. If you are using a poor-quality helmet, you should immediately replace it and buy a good and safe helmet.

Features of a good helmet

To stay safe during accidents on the road, you should use helmets with ISI marks and DOT marks. The ISI mark is the Indian standard, while the DOT mark is the American standard. Both these standards ensure that the helmets prioritize your safety and keep your head and life safe in case of accidents.

Price of ISI and DOT-marked helmets

Helmets with ISI and DOT marks are not expensive. You can buy them at a starting price of Rs 1500 to Rs 2000. Their price can go up to Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 if you want to buy a premium helmet. Helmets from companies like Steelbird in the market can also be good options. It is clear from the new order of the Center that the sale and manufacture of substandard helmets will now be strictly monitored. This will improve road safety and people will get better protection. Therefore, if you are still using a substandard helmet, replace it immediately and buy a standard helmet, which can ensure your safety.
