In the by-election of 24 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh between the lockdown and the Corona crisis, the BJP is preparing to redeem the 'Chambal Express Way' on 16 seats in Gwalior-Chambal division. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has asked Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation to make a detailed project report (DPR) of the new name of this project 'Chambal Progress Way'. There is also a possibility that the width of the old existing six-lane highway will be increased. This 352 km long express will pass through three states- Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and UP.

The BJP, which has made four-moon project in the development of the Chambal region, has prepared to redeem it in the by-election. Bhoomi Pujan of this project will be done before the by-elections are announced. Departmental sources say that survey work is being started for the project. Officers have been instructed to take up this project on a priority basis. It has also been said that land acquisition should be minimized, this should be taken care of. The DPR of the project is in rapid progress. Efforts are underway to complete the DPR and other formalities by the end of June.

Chief Minister Chouhan has taken the consent of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for the project. Gadkari will also be involved in the Bhoomipujan program. The Congress government had put this project on hold. There is a plan to develop an 'Industrial Hub' at a special place on both sides of this Mahapath.
