Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, the Congress has made a big political bet to woo women, voters, to strengthen its political ground for next year's proposed assembly elections. The party's national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is not only talking about giving 40 percent seats to women candidates for the same but has also issued a manifesto for women.

Not only that, the Congress is preparing with a target of reaching 5 crore women in UP. These elections have promised women 40 percent of the ticket, giving them importance. Priyanka Vadra while addressing a press conference in Lucknow a few days ago said that congress will give 40 percent tickets to women in UP. In the meantime, he said that if our bus had run, we would have given 50 percent tickets. If Congress gives 40 percent tickets, about 160 women candidates out of 403 seats in the state will be in the fray.
 
At every election meeting of hers, Priyanka Vadra is saying that Congress is fighting the women's war. She tells women that she wants to give women the power to fight their battles strongly. It is also being said that Priyanka Vadra has categorically stated that no woman candidate will be fielded.
