New Delhi: The Central government had announced major financial assistance to state governments to prevent the third wave of the corona epidemic. The Modi government had announced this in its first cabinet meeting with the new Union ministers. The first installment has been sent to various states on July 22 under the India Covid 19 Emergency Response and Health System Prepaidness Payscale.
According to sources in the Union Health Ministry, the second installment of the package will also be sent to the states by August 15. Mansukh Mandaviya had said that an economic package of Rs 23,000 crore has been announced to mobilize infrastructure and necessary resources to deal with corona. Plans have been sought from states in this regard. West Bengal CM Mamata had written to PM Modi on the vaccine and center's help, considered the most effective weapon in Corona, and raised several questions. Mamata had demanded the Central government to relax customs duty and GST.
On the other hand, when it comes to the amount allocated by the Central Government, more covid assistance has been sent to West Bengal than to Gujarat. According to statistics, Gujarat is to be given a total amount of Rs 479.22 crore as the first installment, out of which Rs 71.88 crore has been paid so far as the first installment. On the other hand, coming to West Bengal, 604.76 crore is to be given by the Centre, out of which 90.71 crores have been given.
