New Delhi: Abdullah Azam Khan, son of senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and Lok Sabha MP Azam Khan, has received a big relief from the Supreme Court. According to information received, Abdullah has been granted bail in the apex court in connection with the fake date of birth. The court has asked the lower court to record his statement within four weeks. However, Abdullah Azam Khan will not be able to be released from jail as several other cases are under consideration against him.

Meanwhile, the UP government has protested against Azam Khan's bail. The apex court asked if custody was still needed in the case, on behalf of Uttar Pradesh advocate SV Raju said an FIR has been registered against Azam Khan in several cognizable cases. He is a habitual offender so Azam Khan should not be granted bail. On the other hand, advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Azam Khan, said that a charge sheet has been filed in the case FIR 280/2019. In this case, the second PAN card and the second birth certificate were created. The UP government said the second PAN card was issued even after the first PAN card was present and the first PAN card information was concealed.

Azam's lawyer Sibal said the government has registered separate FIRs in the passport and PAN card case, while Azam Khan has got bail in the main FIR in the case. The government has registered a separate FIR in the same case to keep them in jail. Sibal said Abdullah Azam Khan's election petition is also pending in the Supreme Court.
