Corona: 'Lockdown' begins in Bengal, market-shops are all closed

Kolkata: Cases of corona epidemic in West Bengal are on the rise. North 24 Parganas is among the districts in the state where corona has the highest number of cases. Lockdowns have started at different places in view of covid graph. Madhyamgram municipality has undergone a partial lockdown for three days from Thursday.

Harendra Singh, chairman of the Board of Administrators of Damdam Municipality, informed that a partial lockdown has been imposed in Dumdum municipal area on Thursday and Monday. Under partial lockdown, markets, shopping malls, unnecessary shops, restaurants are all instructed to keep closed. Only medicine and sweet shops are open. Earlier, markets in Baranagar, Kamrahati, Panihati, Barrackpore, Halishahr, Kanchrapara municipalities have also been directed to shut down.

Now the Dumdum Municipality has also decided to close the markets in view of the increasing cases of infection. Markets are currently being closed by the Titagarh municipality on Sundays a week. On the other hand, the police administration is also strict with the instructions issued in Kamrhatti, Baranagar, Panihati, Barrackpore municipalities and is getting people to follow corona protocol.
