Lucknow: Darul Uloom Deoband, an Islamic educational institution, has now issued a new decree for its students, saying that no student studying in the institution will get his beard cut. If he does so, he will be suspended. Prior to this decree issued by Darul Uloom, on February 6, four students were suspended for shaving their beards. According to the report, Maulana Hussain Ahmed Haridwari, in-charge of the education department of Darul Uloom, Saharanpur, issued a fatwa in this regard on Monday (February 20).

According to the fatwa, the students have been asked to maintain discipline. Especially in this notice full of stern warnings to the students who have cut their beards, it has been said that if any old student is found without a beard, he will be expelled from the institute. Not only this, the students who come with a clean-shaped beard will also not be given admission in Darul Uloom. At the same time, Ulema has also supported the decision of Darul Uloom. Mohtamim Maulana Mufti Asad Qasmi of Madrasa Jamia Sheikhul Hind has said that 'everything that Hazrat Mohammad Sahib (Prophet) has embraced. That is Sunnah. Every Muslim should spend his life following Sunnah and Shariah principles. Keeping a beard is Sunnah in Islam. It should be kept.'

Maulana Qasmi further said, 'It is not right to argue (separate) the Sunnah. However, if one does not keep a beard, he does not get rejected by Islam. The Muslims should follow the work done by Hazrat Mohammad Sahib. It is Sunnah to keep a handful of beards in Islam. If the beard grows more than this is cut, then there is no problem with it.' At the same time, there has been a stir in Darul Uloom since the issue of this notice. Darul Uloom suspended 4 students on 6 February. All four students had shaved their beards. However, later the four students had also given an apology, but the education department of Darul Uloom did not accept it.
