Amritsar: A day before the first physical rally of PM Narendra Modi in Punjab, going to be held today (February 14, 2022), the news of a deadly attack on BJP candidate SR Ladher in Ludhiana in the state is coming to the fore. The attack happened during election campaign. Ladher is a BJP candidate from the Gill seat of Ludhiana in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. He has been admitted to the hospital. The attackers are yet to be traced. This incident happened on Sunday (February 13) evening.

Jatin, PA of the attack victim SR Ladher, said, 'We had gone for a meeting in Kheri village. Then some people came raising slogans against our party (BJP). When we were returning, they stopped our car. During this they attacked us. Ludhiana Police's ACP Central HS Chhetra said, 'We got information that some unknown people have attacked the BJP leader during the campaign. We will take his statement and do our investigation on that basis.
In the attack, bricks and stones were thrown at the BJP candidate's car. He was admitted to the hospital after the incident. He is the BJP candidate against Congress MLA Kuldeep Singh Vaid. He has been an IAS officer (Retired) of 1991 batch. This is his first election. Let us inform that voting in Punjab is to be held on February 20. BJP has fielded candidates on 65 seats out of total 117 seats there. The BJP's allies, Captain Amarinder Singh's party, are contesting 37 seats and the Shiromani Akali Dal on a combined 15 seats.
