The Government think tank Institute of Defense Studies and Analysis (IDSA) has been renamed as Manohar Parrikar Institute of Defense Studies and Analysis in honor of the 'commitment and legacy' of former defense minister late Manohar Parrikar in the Modi government of India.

Manohar Parrikar has also been the Chief Minister of Goa. Parrikar was the defense minister of the country from March 9, 2014, to March 14, 2017.
