New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the Sarai Kale Khan flyover extension on Sunday, announcing that this infrastructure improvement would alleviate traffic congestion. He emphasized his government's commitment to rapid development projects.
Highlights of the Inaugural Speech
During the inauguration, CM Kejriwal shared key details about the newly constructed 620-meter flyover in Sarai Kale Khan. Originally budgeted at Rs 66 crore, the project was completed with cost savings, totaling Rs 50 crore. This flyover will significantly ease traffic flow for commuters traveling from ITO to the Ashram area. Previously, traffic jams in the Ashram vicinity could extend for hours. However, with the new flyover in operation, congestion issues are expected to be reduced, especially in the Dhaula Kuan subway area beyond Chandgiram.
Red Light-Free Roads
Kejriwal highlighted the benefits of the Sarai Kale Khan flyover extension, emphasizing that travelers would no longer need to endure lengthy waits. He explained that there would be no traffic signals between Chandgi Ram Akhara, Ashram, Moolchand, and Dhaula Kuan. This development effectively turns the entire Ring Road into a red light-free thoroughfare. Kejriwal's government has prioritized making traffic flow more smoothly and reducing congestion throughout the city.
Infrastructure Projects and Savings
The Chief Minister emphasized the efficiency of his government's work, noting that they have consistently saved money on infrastructure projects. In comparison to many projects across India, Delhi's construction projects have been completed at a fraction of the cost. He cited the example of the Rani Jhansi flyover, which was initially projected to cost between Rs 30-40 crores but ended up costing Rs 150 crores. In contrast, the Delhi government has managed to save Rs 557 crore on the 30 flyovers they've constructed. Kejriwal proudly noted that their cost-effective approach benefits the public and allows for further investments in essential services.
Expanding Signal-Free Roads
During the inauguration, PWD Minister Atishi shared significant details about the impact of the Sarai Kale Khan flyover extension. The completion of this project has transformed the 16-kilometer stretch of Ring Road into a signal-free corridor, contributing to reduced fuel consumption, savings for Delhi residents, and decreased pollution. This initiative also includes the decoration of the flyover with Madhubani paintings as a tribute to the people of Purvanchal.
Kejriwal's Government Focus on Efficient Development
CM Kejriwal reiterated his government's dedication to completing infrastructure projects efficiently, even in the face of various challenges. He underlined their commitment to streamlining traffic, reducing congestion, and enhancing overall living conditions in Delhi through a series of initiatives and efficient project management.
