In the early stages of his career, India's badminton player Pramod Bhagat, who won a gold medal in the SL3 category at the Tokyo Paralympics, did not have enough money to buy even a badminton.Bhagat, a native of Bihar's Hajipur town in Vaishali district had natural talent in sports.

"During his childhood, he used to beat up on anybody in the city. He contracted polio when he was just five years old. My sister Kishuni Devi and her husband Kailash Bhagat adopted Pramod and brought him to Bhubaneswar because our financial situation was bad and they didn't have a kid "Rama Bhagat, Pramod Bhagat's father, stated.

"At first, we didn't have the money to buy him a badminton racket. "After that, his uncle and aunt were able to purchase a racket for him, and he began practicing for the game," he continued.

"Pramod graduated from Bhubaneswar with a class 12 diploma and then went on to do ITI. He qualified for the Tokyo Paralympic Games by consistently practicing badminton," he stated.

"We are really satisfied with Promod's efforts," Suresh Bhagat, Pramod Bhagat's brother, stated. At the same time, Bihar's sports infrastructure is in shambles. As a result, many talented players are unable to compete in national competitions."
