Earthquake of 3.9 magnitude jolts Manipur's Moirang

Moirang: An earthquake with magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter Scale jolted Moirang of Manipur, India on Friday, National Centre for Seismology said. The earthquake reportedly hit Moirang at 8:52 am, as per  National Centre for Seismology.

A tweet from NCS read, "Earthquake of Magnitude:3.9, Occurred on 24-03-2023, 08:52:40 IST, Lat: 24.23 & Long: 93.86, Depth: 51 Km, Location: 31km SSE of Moirang, Manipur, India."

The National Centre for Seismology reported that earlier on Thursday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 occurred 60 kilometres east-southeast of Moirang, Manipur (NSC). The earthquake reportedly hit Moirang at 6:51 p.m., said NSC.
"Earthquake of Magnitude:3.8, Occurred on 23-03-2023, 18:51:09 IST, Lat: 24.34 & Long: 94.35, Depth: 67 Km, Location: 60km ESE of Moirang, Manipur, India," the National Center for Seismology wrote in a tweet.

People in north India, including those in Delhi and surrounding areas, felt earthquake vibrations earlier on Tuesday evening, and many of them flocked to open spaces as a precaution.

At 10:17 PM tonight, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter Scale struck 133 kilometres SSE of Fayzabad, Afghanistan, according to the National Center for Seismology.

Following the tremors, Jamia Nagar, Kalkaji, and Shahdara localities reported tilted buildings and building fissures. Delhi Fire Services got reports about these issues.

Teams from the fire department hastened to these locations to assess the situation. Authorities later acknowledged, however, that there was no evidence of structure tilting as a result of the earthquake.

"Due to the earthquake, a PCR call was made indicating the tilting of a building in the Shakarpur area. The scene was approached by police, PCR, fire brigade, and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). Evidently, the structure showed no signs of tilt or crack. The caller said that he dialled because he thought someone was tilting, "Delhi Police stated.
