New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind said last Saturday, "State governments should take seriously the advice given by an institution like the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), which will have a positive impact on public service delivery standards.'' In fact, last Saturday, he attended the closing ceremony of the Officers of the Indian Audit Accounts Service at the National Audit Accounts Academy. Here, he said in a statement, "The last 18 months have been very difficult for the country.''

He also said, "The covid-19 epidemic severely disrupted the economy. The Government has taken various financial measures for the welfare of the poor to mitigate the crisis.'' Let me tell you that during the function, 38 officer trainees of the 2018-2019 batch were awarded induction training completion certificates in the presence of Kovind, State Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, CAG of India Girish Chandra Murmu and other dignitaries. Let me tell you that the National Audit Accounts Academy in Shimla is the top training institute of the Indian Audit Accounts Department.

While supporting greater flexibility in planning implementation in consultation with the State Implementing Bodies, the President said, "This is likely to improve the outcome of the programme. However, this requires a strong financial reporting accountability framework at local government levels.'' He also said, "Government processes are becoming increasingly digital for the convenience of citizens. The rapidly expanding technology limit has reduced the distance between state citizens.'' He further said, "Through direct benefit transfer, money can reach the poorest citizen in the most remote corner of the country on the push of computer buttons.''
