Ellen Pompeo recently went down memory lane sharing a GIF on Twitter. It seems like she continues to play with fans' emotions as it was teased following Thursday night's episode that "another person from past returns." The GIF shared had Ellen and Grey’s Anatomy character Meredith talking to Katherine Heigl‘s character Izzie in the show’s early seasons.

The 51-year-old posted a GIF of where Izzie telling Meredith, “Dude, she went all cage fight on you.” on Twitter on November 19. She captioned the snap, “Hey it’s Grey’s day!!!” where fans think she’s sending a subtle message about Izzie coming back onto our screens. Ahead of Thursday's episode, Pompeo’s tweet is hinting about the return of Izzie who left the series a decade ago. When she has taken a trip down memory lane, one fan replied, while another asked, “is this a hint Izzie's coming back?” Ellen’s tweet came three days after former castmate Isaiah Washington reignited his longtime feud with Katherine, more than a decade after he was fired from the show.

Drama aside, Katherine also has been in the headlines as fans of Grey’s are theorizing that she’s set to return to the medical drama this season. It wouldn’t make her the first OG cast member to boomerang back to the show: Patrick Demsey‘s Derek is making guest appearances this season.
