Betul: A shameful case has come to the fore in Betul, Madhya Pradesh. A 62-year-old elderly woman was allegedly raped by a taxi driver by giving her a lift. The matter was reported to the police. Taking immediate action, the police arrested the culprit. In this incident, the Betul Kotwali police registered a case of rape and kidnapping against an unknown criminal and started his search immediately. Betul SP Simala Prasad formed a team to search for the culprit. The team got the clue of the criminal from the footage of the CCTV camera installed on the National Highway-69 toll plaza and the behavior told by the victim. Thereafter, the police arrested the criminal taxi driver from Bhopal on Tuesday evening.

The same incident happened on June 12. The old lady was going to attend some function. He was having trouble walking. Then a taxi stopped near him and the driver gave him a lift after talking about dropping him at the venue. Instead of taking it to the venue of the ceremony, the criminal took the car somewhere else. Where after getting the opportunity, raped the woman and ran away leaving the victim on National Highway-69.

The criminal Manoj Malviya is originally from Vidisha district. Presently lives in Ayodhya Nagar, Bhopal. Manoj is a taxi driver by profession. On Sunday, Manoj had gone by taxi to drop two doctors from Bhopal to Nagpur. On his way back to Bhopal from there, he committed the incident of raping an old woman on the way. Betul SP Simala Prasad said that the incident of rape of a 62-year-old woman came to light after she was given a lift in a taxi. The police arrested the criminal from Bhopal. On Wednesday, after the medical examination, the criminal was produced in the court.
