A former  Kannada actor Shivaranjan Bolannavar was shot three times by unidentified gunmen outside of his Bailhongal home on Wednesday, but managed to escape unharmed.

The former star was speaking to some companions near the Hanuman shrine when two bike-riding assailants opened fire with three shots. Some villagers claim that Shivaranjan was unharmed and that the rounds missed.

The officer claimed, "The motorcycle-riding assailants emerged outside and fired at him as he was pounding on the door, but none of the bullets struck him.

The 50-year-aged  businessman has acted in several Kannada films. In the movie Amrita Sindhu, he starred opposite Shruti. He performed in Veerabhadra and other films as well. Shivaranjan has appeared in a number of films, including Raja Rani, Veera Bhadra, Bisi Rakta, Aata Hudugaata, and Amrutha Sindhu.

He earned recognition for his performance in Amrutha Sindhu, a film in which Shruthi the actress co-starred.
