Lucknow: FIR has been filed against former Uttar Pradesh Governor Aziz Qureshi in Lucknow. Where on Sunday, February 2, 2020, he was carrying out candle march in the capital with the past supporters of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Citizenship Register (NRC). The police have registered an FIR against 8 people including Qureshi and other unknown people in the Gomtinagar police station.

According to the information received, it is said that the police have registered a case in violation of Section 144 CrPC against unknown persons including Aziz Qureshi, Jalil, Mahfooz, Salman Mansoori, Wali Mohammad Rahnuma Khan, Priyanka Mishra, Sunil Lodhi. . The FIR said that Qureshi along with about 40 supporters were leading the candle march on the road leading to the Mall of Digdiga intersection. The police stopped him and told that Section 144 is applicable in the city, but he still did not agree.

According to the police, all the slogans were raised with posters and placards in protest against the NRC and CAA, after which the police overpowered them and then filed an FIR. It is also being said that Aziz Qureshi has been the Governor of UP, Uttarakhand and Mizoram. Qureshi was also involved in the performance of Gomtinagar after being involved in the ongoing demonstration at Ghantaghar.
