Jalandhar: Renowned bhajan singer Kanhaiya Mittal finds himself entangled in a case for allegedly inciting religious sentiments, with the Christian community in Jalandhar being the complainants. The allegations stem from offensive remarks purportedly made by Mittal about the Christian community and Lord Jesus during a vigil held in Delhi.

The complaint was lodged by Punjab Christian Leadership Chairman Pastor Harjot Sethi and Punjab President Surjit Thapar, leading to the registration of a case under Section 294-A of the Indian Penal Code at Lambra police station for causing religious hurt.

The Christian community's leadership expressed profound dissatisfaction, contending that Kanhaiya Mittal had sought to demean and insult their community by making derogatory remarks. The offensive comments allegedly included the assertion that Mahadev Shiva was the father of Jesus Christ.

The revelation of the derogatory comments attributed to Kanhaiya Mittal was made through various YouTube channels. Numerous videos featuring Mittal were circulated across several social media platforms. The evidence was gathered, compiled in a pen drive, and submitted to SSP Dehat Mukhvinder Bhullar, along with the formal complaint.

Upon investigation and validation of the video's authenticity, SSP Bhullar issued orders to register an FIR against Kanhaiya Mittal if the facts were substantiated. The Christian leadership has vehemently condemned the derogatory remarks, expressing deep distress within their community. They urge the police administration to expedite the arrest of Kanhaiya Mittal.
