Lucknow: Tabrez Rana, son of famous poet Munavwar Rana, was attacked by unidentified bike assailants in Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh. Several rounds were fired at his car. Tabrez narrowly escaped the attack, but his car was damaged. There was a stir around and people gathered at the sound of gunfire. Meanwhile, the attackers fled the spot. Police cordoned off the area to nab the attackers but without any success.

The victim Tabrez Rana has lodged a complaint with the police station against five members of his own family. Police have registered a case against all the five accused Ismail Rana, Rafe Rana, Jamil Rana, Shakeel Rana (uncle) and Yasar Rana (cousin). Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Rafe Rana is considered close to Azam Khan. Shayyar Munavwar Rana, a resident of Fort Bazar street in Kotwali city of Rae Bareli, lives in Lucknow with his family. Police said that they have been having a property dispute with family members in Raebareli for a long time. Tabrez Rana had come to the city two days ago over a land dispute and was staying there. According to complaint in Kotwali, he was on his way to Lucknow in his car on Monday (June 28, 2021).

At around 6 pm on lucknow-Prayagraj highway, masked men on a numberless bike opened fire on Tabrez Rana near a petrol pump located in Tripula police outpost area of city Kotwali. Tabrez was driving the car at that time. A crowd of people started gathering at the spot after hearing the gunshots. The attackers fled after firing several rounds. Bullet marks were also found in the glass of the car. Kotwal Atul Kumar Singh said that a case has been registered based on the complaint of the victim.
