Kanpur, police arrested 5 members of a gang involved in theft of vehicles and other serious offences. According to Kalyanpur police station in-charge Santosh Kumar Singh, he was checking vehicles in Barah Sirohi area yesterday and saw a white car moving. When asked to stop for checking, the passengers tried to escape but were arrested.

The convicts were identified as Jeetu, Sandeep, Shivam Singh, Govind and Lalit were arrested and 2 country-made pistols, 4 live cartridges, a cutter and other equipments to break locks were recovered from them.

The confession made by the gang includes that they stole motorcycles from Kanpur and nearby districts and sold them and the youths have also committed robberies.

Motorcycles were seized during the raid and an investigation is underway on this connection.
