Panaji: A group of private dentists in Goa had a black bandage in their hands during their talks with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President J P Nadda to lodge their protest. The doctors had reportedly protested against the hike in biomedical waste management fee by the state government. Let me tell you that last Wednesday evening, J. P. Nadda had interacted with medical professionals from various branches. Meanwhile, the dentists lodged their protest.
In fact, this dialogue was organized by the medical cell of the state unit of the BJP. Doctors who lodged the protest are associated with the Dental Association of India (IDA). Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who was present during the interaction here, later said, "The incident of dentists registering a protest before the BJP president was "politically motivated". Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said that during a question and answer session with J P Nadda, doctors objected to the goa government increasing the biomedical waste disposal fee. On the other hand, IDA member Dr. Anil de Silva told the media after the protest, "Dentists were irrationally placed in the category of doctors who produce heavy biomedical waste. '
He further said, "The work of collecting biomedical waste has been entrusted to a private company in Delhi and the company has placed dentists in the category of large quantities of such waste creators, which has led to increase in fees. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant says, "Dentists had met him earlier and his demand is being considered. There was no need to perform in this kind of programme, because it is a State matter and I answered their questions in a proper manner. Some of the doctors who protested at the event were politically motivated. '
