Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is soon making every effort to officially open the power plant from 19.8 MW waste in Jawaharnagar Dumpyard. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T.Rama Rao is likely to participate in the program.

Since camping work has been done at 130 acres of dumpyard, the remaining space is being used for dumping and processing of freshly brought waste. After separation, compost is produced along with Rejection Derived Fuel (RDF). About 40 percent of RDF production is used from various types of waste, including municipal solid waste. 20% of compost production, the rest is used for scientific slope.

Following state government orders, Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) has approved the establishment of a power plant from 1,200 tonnes (TPD) or 19.8 MW waste per day in Jawaharnagar. In the second phase, the capacity is likely to be expanded by another 1,200 TPD or 28 MW. In the first phase of development, the plant is ready to produce 19.8 MW of power per day, while another 28 MW in the second phase. During this test, the plant not only treats the city's waste to world-class standards, but also serves as a green energy source for the city.
