Gujarat riots: Court acquits 27 accused due to lack of evidence

Vadodara: A hearing was held in the Gujarat riots case in the sessions court of Halol in Panchmahal district. The District Sessions Court has acquitted 27 people in the 2002 post-Godhra riots violence cases. Please tell them that out of 39 accused, 12 died during the hearing of the case itself. At the same time, the court has now acquitted 27 accused due to lack of evidence.

Let us inform you that, on March 1, 2022, massacres, gang rapes, and violent incidents took place in Kalol police station of Panchmahal district and surrounding areas. Separate cases were registered with the police regarding these crimes. According to media reports, defence lawyer Vijay Pathak said that the court has given its verdict in respect of eight different offences registered at that time. A charge sheet was filed in respect of these offences. These offences included murder, gang rape, rioting, arson, and destruction of evidence.

On the other hand, the most important case during this hearing was the murder of 11 people near the Ambika Society in Kalol. When people from the minority community were fleeing from Delol due to violence. Altogether, 38 people had left Delol because of the violence. The vehicle by which the people of this particular community (Muslims) were going overturned on the way due to barricading. Everyone fell down and got injured. Then the mob, coming from behind, targeted the minority group and killed 11 of them.
