At the Guwahati Railway Station, a huge consignment of smuggled tobacco items was found. According to sources, the raid was carried out by officials from the Assam Income Tax Department based on certain information.

Three train compartments were raided and 2,200 cartons of illegal 'Gutkha' were recovered. The seized items included a wide range of tobacco products from various brands. The cargo was allegedly brought to Guwahati from Delhi without proper documentation or payment of taxes.

However, no arrests have yet been made as a result of the seizure. It may be mentioned that certain tobacco products are said to be banned in Assam but the sale of such products continue without much notice from the administration.
