Chandigarh: In Haryana, open Friday prayers in Gurugram have been protested by several locals, including Hindu organisations. Tensions between Hindus and Muslims are rising as the solution has not been resolved despite the protests that have been going on for the past five months. Police have allowed open prayers at a total of 37 places. A large number of people along with Hindu women have taken to the streets today for the fifth week shouting bhajans and kirtans and slogans. The Gurugram police have detained representatives of Hindu organisations who reached Sector-12-A area of Gurugram to protest. The number of people detained is said to be around 30.

According to media reports, Muslim groups have called more people than Noonh and Pataudi for 'support.' However, it is not yet clear whether the Muslims of Noonh and Pataudi are actually present in Gurugram. Noonh comes to Mewat and reportedly a large number of Rohingyas have been settled there in recent times. Mewat has the same place which is often known as 'Mini Pakistan' because of its criminal activities.

Haji Shahzad Khan, President, Muslim Ekta Manch has said, "If they (Hindu groups) raise slogans, we will not sit quietly. We don't want to spoil the law and order situation, but if they target us, we will not remain silent.'' Haji further said, "We don't want any confrontation or conflict, we are ready to move elsewhere provided the administration can guarantee peace.''
